Kiwi Secure Tunnel
What is Kiwi Secure Tunnel?
Kiwi Secure Tunnel is a
freeware Windows Secure Tunnel Service for
use with Kiwi Syslog Daemon (or compatible). It receives, compresses,
encrypts and securely transports, syslog messages from distributed network
devices to Kiwi Syslog Daemon.Kiwi Secure Tunnel is provided only as a Service Edition
that runs on Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003. The Kiwi Secure Tunnel Manager
program provides the interface to configure and manage the NT service.
The Kiwi Secure Tunnel is made up of a client and a
server.
The Tunnel Client gathers messages from one or more devices on a
network and forwards the messages across a secure link to the Tunnel Server.
The Server then forwards the messages on to one or more Syslog Daemons.
Kiwi Secure Tunnel also has the ability to monitor the
contents of selected files and send data from these files as syslog messages
to Kiwi Syslog Daemon using the Secure Tunnel.
Both the Client and the Server have a small footprint and
are easily and quickly configured.
|
| What is Kiwi Secure Tunnel used for? |
| The purpose of the Kiwi Secure Tunnel is to gather data from multiple
devices on a network, then send this data securely from a single point, the
Tunnel Client, across a public network like the internet, to a Tunnel
Server. The Tunnel Server in turn forwards the data on to a Syslog Daemon
for processing. The Tunnel Server may act as a
collection point for multiple Tunnel Clients, allowing it to act like a data
funnel.
Possible uses for Kiwi Secure Tunnel:
Imagine a Corporate
network spread across 3 physically separate sites, all linked via the
internet. Sites A, B, and C are all in different locations of the city,
joined by a broadband IP link. However, the network is administered from
site C. Sites A and B need to send their syslog data to site C in a timely
manner, but as the data is in plain text and may describe the nodes of the
network, sending it across the internet is a high security risk. The Kiwi
Secure Tunnel provides a secure and simple facility to do just that. Tunnel
Clients would be set up on sites A and B and would connect to a Tunnel
Server at site C. This Tunnel Server would forward the data on to a Kiwi
Syslog Daemon running in network C, which would already be receiving data
from network devices on network C. This allows the whole corporate network
to be securely monitored from a single physical point.
Another scenario could involve a Network Administration Services company,
remotely managing the networks for Companies A, B, and C. The Network
company would run a Tunnel Server on their network, and run Tunnel Clients
at each of their client sites. The syslog data from each company can then be
collected securely from each client site to a single point. However, there
might be separate Administrators assigned to monitor each client company.
The Kiwi Secure Tunnel Server would then send a parallel data stream to each
Administrator's PC running Kiwi Syslog Daemon. Each Kiwi Syslog can filter
the incoming data so that only the records from their client site are logged
on their machine.

Kiwi Logger
|
|
Kiwi Logger (KLOG) is a suite of syslog
message sending tools for the Windows platform. The tools allow you to add
syslog message sending capabilities, via either UDP or TCP, to your
applications. The syslog messages can be received by Kiwi Syslog Daemon
(or compatible).
You can access KLOG via console command
line, Windows command line, DLL API or ActiveX component.
Integration examples are included for
command line, C, VC++ and Visual Basic. The DLL can be dynamically or
statically linked via the included library file.
The console and Windows command line
tools are Freeware. The DLL and ActiveX components are fully functional,
but contain a nag message within the message text. A full version of the
DLL and ActiveX components can be purchased by clicking the link provided
below. [Download]

application for Windows 9X, NT/2000 and ME. Its purpose is to display log
files created by Kiwi Syslog Daemon in an easy to read manner. It includes
features such as, column sorting / re-ordering via drag and drop, command
line options and switches, output to tab delimited, CSV and HTML table
file formats. Kiwi Logfile Viewer supports Kiwi Syslog and BSD Syslog
field header titles and also tab delimited and CSV format files.

Kiwi SyslogGen
|
|
Kiwi SyslogGen is a free Windows and NT
Syslog message generator which sends Unix type Syslog messages to any PC
or Unix Syslog Daemon. Excellent for testing your Kiwi Syslog Daemon
setup. Supports TCP syslog messages so that you can emulate PIX firewall
messages. [Download]

Kiwi Harvester
|
|
Kiwi Harvester is a free Windows utility that listens
for data via the computer's serial interface and converts the data
received into standard syslog messages. The messages are then forwarded
via the UDP protocol to a central logging server such as Kiwi Syslog
Daemon. The Harvester allows you to integrate non-ethernet enabled devices
into your central logging system. Such devices include: PBX call logging
systems, main frame computers, remote sensing devices and router console
ports. [Download]
Kiwi Harvester includes features such as:
 | Accepts input from network devices via a comm port
|
 | Forwards messages via UDP |
 | Configurable via an ini file |
 | Runs as service |
 | Supports comm port speeds from 300 to 115200 bps
|
|
Kiwi HarvesterGen
|
|
Kiwi HarvesterGen is a free Comm Port Message Generator
for use with Kiwi Harvester.
Kiwi HarvesterGen sends messages using a serial
communications port. It is built to help test the installation of Kiwi
Harvester, or any process that reads messages from a serial comm port.
