ELM Enterprise Manager

ELM Enterprise Manager 5.0 is a rules based enterprise wide system and server monitoring, alerting, and reporting software solution. Using small footprint Agents, either as real-time installed Service Agents or polling Virtual Agents, ELM monitors the health and status of your distributed Windows systems. For firewalls and network devices, IP Agents monitor Internet Services and receive SNMP Traps and Syslog Messages. The data collected is processed at the central ELM Server and stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database. ELM Enterprise Manager will benefit any System Administrator by fully supporting your proactive system management objectives.

Precision Controls
Easy to use custom Filters select data for concise Views and trigger Rules for granular notification. ELM alerts you as conditions change and presents the data in easy to analyze formats. This enables you to take prompt corrective action when critical security or system events arise. ELM will save you time and support your proactive system management objectives.

Flexible Reporting
Several flexible ELM reporting options provide you detailed visibility of your critical health and status data. The ELM Publisher is preconfigured to collect the data and generate many of the most commonly requested management reports. In addition, ELM Editor is a custom reporting engine providing a query based tool for generating ad hoc and schedulable reports. With ELM deployed, you can analyze event data in real-time and evaluate performance trends over days, weeks, or months.

Data Storage
All data is securely stored in Microsoft SQL Server databases. ELM requires two database instances; the Primary Database for real-time reporting and a Failover Database to ensure data continuity should the Primary Database be unavailable. In addition, unique pruning and archiving features efficiently manage the data for long term storage needs. The ELM Server provides exceptional security and compliance data management.

Easy to Access
ELM Enterprise Manager utilizes the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) as its primary interface. The ELM Console seen below is for configuring and viewing the data you are monitoring. A read-only Web Viewer with a powerful search feature is also included. The ELM Console displays the product architecture in three (3) functional groups:

Notification Methods
ELM includes a rich, robust Notification Engine that enables you to customize notification and corrective action to suit your organizational needs. You can have separate notification methods for different events, or a single notification method for all similar events. For example, you could have one method that describes how to notify a database administrator about important database related events, and another method for notifying a security administrator about important security related events. You could have yet another method that notifies all Help Desk technicians when a critical server is down.

Notification Methods pass the full event information to the notification engine, which then forwards that information according to the methods selected. You may completely customize the message sent via the Notification Method. This is important when there are restrictions on message length, as in the case of a mobile pager.

Use the product menu below from the Notification Method Wizard screen to learn more about the notification options available in ELM Enterprise Manager

Results - Views, Reporting, Performance & More
The Results container in the ELM Console contains the results of monitoring and management activities that have been configured. Here you can view Alerts; the Event Views which provide a mechanism for grouping events into a view that match one or more filters. Other options include access to Performance Data which displays performance counter definitions and the most recent data collected by Performance Collectors; and both the customizable and preconfigured reporting options - ELM Editor and ELM Publisher. Use the menu floating on the product screen below for more details about the Results views.
