Turbo-Charge Exceed & Reflection X
Since the 1980s, PC X servers have been
used by millions of engineers and network administrators to access
applications on remote UNIX/Linux servers. Users have long been frustrated
by losing their remote sessions when the connection between the Windows PC
and the host is severed unexpectedly
Add Persistency to your Sessions
In November 2007, StarNet revolutionized
the PC X server by adding Session Persistency to its flagship product,
X-Win32. Now StarNet is also bringing session persistency to Exceed and
Reflection X by way of our Recon-X add-on.

X-Win32 - Product
Line Overview
X-Win32 LIVE
X-Win32 Version 9, also known as X-Win32 LIVE includes a new
LIVE sessions option. LIVE Sessions offer the ability to reconnect to a running
session on the remote host after the PC loses its connection to the network due
to a Windows crash, power or network failure. Users can also manually suspend
and resume sessions and move sessions from one PC another and LIVE sessions
feature LAN-like performance over Internet connections, making it possible to
work effectively from home and elsewhere outside the LAN.
X-Win32 Flash
X-Win32 Flash is the only PC X server that can be installed
and run from a USB flash drive. This allows users to take the X server and their
sessions to any Windows computer and immediately run their sessions. Nothing
gets installed or left on the host PC. When running LIVE Sessions, you can
literally start a session on one PC, take the USB key to another PC and resume
the session.
X-Win32 LIVE and X-Win32 Flash are sold at the exact same
pricing structure with discounts for volume, government and educational users. A
combination package of X-Win32 LIVE and Flash is available at a 30% savings over
purchasing them separately. ExtraLAN also offers
X-Win32 Flash pre-installed and licensed on USB Flash drives.
Windows OS &
License Specifications
 | X-Win32, version 8.0 and later, is designed to work with
Windows XP and Vista. |
 | X-Win32 is optimized for use on 64-bit Windows systems. |
 | X-Win32 can be installed on Windows and Citrix terminal
servers. |
 | X-Win32 can be used on VMware to connect to other virtual
Linux/Unix machines. |
 | StarNet offers both concurrent (floating) network licenses
that can be used on LANs as well as node-locked licenses for individual users.
No license servers are required as the license control is built into the
software. |
Simple User Interface
The X-Win32 user interface features an intuitive and clean
design. We have simplified the user interface by automatically determining
options that were previously set in the user interface; for example, the network
address, which used to be set in the user interface, is now determined
automatically for rexec, rsh, and XDMCP sessions.
Below are screen shots showing the X-Config user interface, the tray menu, the
Session Wizard that assists in creating your sessions, and one of the session
status dialogs that give you detailed feedback on the progress of your
connection.

problems as well as providing a clean way to see all error messages
associated with a single session. |
Render Extension
X-Win32 includes the Render Extension, which is used by modern
Linux, UNIX, and BSD applications to smooth text fonts and graphics, as well as
to provide high-performance alpha-blending for drop shadows, highlights, and
graying out of inactive windows.
Screen Shot Tool for Graphical Copy and Paste
X-Win32 8 features our awe inspiring graphical copy and paste
feature. This screen shot tool allows copying of rectangles, windows, and the
entire screen, including copying areas from other non X-Win32 windows. In fact,
you can use our screen shot tool as a general purpose screen shot tool if you
wish. In addition, X-Win32 8 also includes a screen shot review window that
shows you the area that was captured and allows you to copy the screen shot to
the clipboard, save it to a PNG file, or print it to any of your Windows
printers.

SSH Connection Module
X-Win32 features a powerful, fully integrated SSH connection
module for your SSH sessions. The new SSH module features:
 | Compatibility with a wide variety of SSH servers
|
 | Prevention of dropped connections due to firewalls and NAT
machines |
 | Integration with MIT Kerberos for Windows |
 | Simplified session configuration interface |
 | Automatic X Client authorization via XAuth (no
need to add hosts to the host list anymore) |
 | Takes advantage of additional CPUs or multi-core CPUs to
offload the encryption and compression load |
 | Saved passwords are now encrypted by Windows Cryptography
Services |
 | Ability to specify a non-default port directly on the SSH
session configuration form |
 | Support for Keyboard Interactive SSH2 authentication, for
complete compatibility with alternative authentication systems such as RSA
SecureIDs |
 | Ability to change your expired password when logging in
|
Color Settings for Legacy Applications
X-Win32 8 includes the ability to set Xresource
defaults, which tells your remote host that you are using an X Server that is
capable of color display. This causes applications like xcalc and
xterm to look like they would if you logged on to the console of your
remote host; typically, these applications will have colors instead of being
black and white like they are in other Windows X Servers. In addition, X-Win32 8
can also read a copy of your Xresources or Xdefaults file on
your Windows machine, saving you the time and hassle of copying these files to
all of your remote hosts.

Languages and International Support
X-Win32 8 includes user interface translations for 29
languages, automatic keyboard detection for 117 different keyboard layouts, and
full Unicode, UTF-8, East Asian, and Euro font sets.
X-Win32 Licensing Options
Node-locked Single Licenses
These licenses require a one-time online registration. The
license is tied to the PC hardware, usually the serial number of the Ethernet
card. Node-locked licenses are shipped standard on purchases of 1-9 licenses.
Concurrent (Floating) Network Licenses
The concurrent licensing allows customers to install X-Win32
on any number of PCs on your network. Concurrently licenses are also used for
installation on Windows Termianal or Citrix servers.
StarNet’s concurrent network licenses do not require a
dedicated license server. The licensing is self-monitoring. Example: If you
purchase a 5-user license, up to 5 users on your network can run X-Win32.
Note: Concurrent licenses can significantly reduce
the cost per user. Concurrent licenses are also required for use on Windows
or Citrix terminal servers. When comparing pricing of X-Win32 versus a competing
PC X server using a Per Seat licensing model, please be careful not to compare
X-Win32 pricing without taking the concurrent cost into consideration.
